Barcelona is one of those rare cities that is both ultra modern and true to its traditional roots all in one. It is a thriving hotbed of fashion, sport, food and unquestionably some of the quirkiest architecture you will ever see in your life!

The city is home to the amazing work of Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, whose colourful and angular designs were inspired by nature. You cant venture around Barcelona with stumbling upon a Gaudi creation; and each of them really are a sight to behold. Starting at the very top of the city is Park Guell, which not only houses an array of colourful mosaic structures, but offers amazing views over Barcelona.

Gaudis most famous piece must be the subject of our image, Sagrada Familia. This giant Basilica has been under construction since 1882 (thats right, they are STILL working on it to this day, but may be finished by 2026) and its beauty could be compared to that of an ornate palace. As well as admiring the stunning building itself, you can head inside to take a guided tour or simply marvel at the beautiful stained glass windows.

There are so many interesting and beautiful things to see in the city, it's hard to know where to head next, but fortunately the Barcelona tourist board has come up with the perfect solution. The Bus Touristic is a fairly cheap way to see all the key sights and learn about some of their history without having to walk for miles in the heat. You can visit iconic sites such as the Olympic Park, Camp Nou (home to FC Barcelona), Port Vell and much of the Gaudi architecture whilst listening to a pre-recorded guided tour on a personal headset. Hop on and off as you please so you can see more of the things you want, and leisurely drive passed the ones you don't.
