Based close to the heart of Germany, the city of Frankfurt (or Frankfurt am Main, to use its full name) has a population of just under a million residents. Although the area dates all the way back to Roman times, the name Frankfurt wasn’t mentioned in the history books until the 12th century. Although the city has grown to become a vibrant and more cosmopolitan destination since then, it still retains some of its original charm in the Old Town with tradition chocolate box-style buildings and cobbled streets.
It’s Christmas time that makes Frankfurt most magical, when the city is buzzing with festive activity. There’s the iconic Frankfurt Christmas Market; filled with cosy wooden cabins selling festive food, drink and traditional decorations. After that you can take leisurely (if a little bit chilly, when the weather sees temperatures to just above freezing) stroll through Deutsche Bank Park to enjoy the Christmas Garden that’s filled with light displays.
Our poster design shows the beautiful Frankfurt skyline across the River Main. Buildings that can be seen in the backdrop include Commerzbank Tower (a 56 story skyscraper which is the tallest in Germany), Messeturm (or Trade Fair Tower) and Trianon. One of the nicest ways to enjoy a city view like this is to take a river cruise, which is particularly lovely at night time.
