Copenhagen Denmark poster print

Home to around 800,000 residents, Copenhagen is Denmarks largest city. Originally starting out as a Viking fishing village in the 10th century, it grew and evolved to become the countrys capital sometime in the 15th century. One of the more unique things about Copenhagen is that it stretches between two islands; Zealand and Amager, which are a mere stones throw away from neighbouring Sweden.

Copenhagen has risen to become something of a gastronomical destination in recent years and now boasts a staggering 15 Michelin starred restaurants around the city. As well as eating yourself into a food coma there are many other attractions to enjoy during a visit, such as the botanical gardens. This green oasis spreads over 24 acres in a complex of historic greenhouses, boasting more than 13,000 plant species. The Little Mermaid statue at Langelinie Pier is also a hit with tourists and has become something of a Danish national symbol. Erected around 1913, it is based on a story by author Hans Christian Andersen.

The weather can get quite chilly during the winter months, often falling below freezing; so many visitors prefer to travel in the summer months when temperatures reach slightly more respectable mid-teens to early twenties.

One of the most iconic landmarks in Copenhagen is Nyhavn, which is a waterfront district established in the 17th century and the inspiration behind our poster design. Probably the most popular spot to visit by both locals and tourists in the city; its home to delicious restaurants, boat-lined harbour and striking tall multi-coloured buildings.
