Bondi Beach Australia poster print

Bondi beach is probably one of the most famous beaches in the world, and is one of Australias most visited tourist spots. With its wide stretch of fine white sands and awesome waves, its not hard to understand why. It was named Bondi after the Sydney neighbourhood it is located in and was originally spelled Boondi which is an Aboriginal word meaning surf in English.

Bondi has something of a past radical past and was at the forefront of the efforts to fight indecency in beach attire. It was a key site of protests in 1907 to oppose proposed dress standards for visitors, and in 1951 actress Jean Parker was escorted from the beach when the now-legendary Aub Laidlaw determined that her biking was too skimpy.

We have chosen to include part of the Bondi Icebergs pool in this design, which is one of the most photographed swimming pools in the world. Part of the Bondi Icebergs Club, it boasts a prime spot right on the sea front with a great view over the beach, and swimmers will often get blasted with a refreshing spray of sea water when a particularly large wave crashes over the pool barrier. However, they are some drier ways to enjoy Bondi Icebergs too.A pool kiosk has a shaded view over the beach whilst enjoying a drink or snack, as well as sunbathing areas set further back from the waters edge.
