The Gold Coast is in the Australian state of Queensland, with residents being affectionately known as Gold Coasters. The area is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations thanks to its impressive skyline, subtropical climate, beaches and nightlife.

The Gold Coast is well known for its range of theme parks, some of the most popular being Dreamworld (Australias largest theme park), Waterworld Warner Bros. Movie World and Sea World. However, away from seeking thrills and lapping up the ocean waves, you will discover that the area also offers a more relaxed pace of life too. You could enjoy the ocean from a different point of view by taking sightseeing river cruise, take part in a wine tasting session or take an evening tour to the Natural Bridge glow worm cave, which become illuminated by the millions of glow worms living inside.

The area we are showing in this design is Surfers Paradise, which is a coastal town on the Gold Coast with an estimated population of 25,000. The area is known for lots of high rise buildings that look out over the beach, which (as the name suggests) is one of Australias best and most popular surf spots. Each year the town hosts the Surfers Paradise Festive across four weekends during the Spring to celebrate local food, music, film, fashion and art. The festival transforms the precinct into a vibrant showcase thats enjoyed by visitors of all ages. One the most famous attractions of the area are the Surfers Paradise Meter Maids, who were introduced in the 1950s to top up expired parking meters wearing gold bikinis.
