Antigua Caribbean postcard
Antigua is a topical paradise where you can expect to enjoy plenty of sun, fun and Caribbean hospitality as standard. Made up of several islands ranging in size and spread out by tens of miles, the country’s official name is Antigua and Barbuda after the two biggest. It was first discovered by Christopher Columbus back the last 1400s.
Rumoured to have 365 beaches, one for every day of the year, there’s something on offer whether you prefer a lively or laidback kind of holiday. With Carnivals, colourful buildings, wildlife, water sports (hobie cats, paddleboards and kayaks seem the most popular) and amazing sunsets, you’ll easily find yourself making memories that last a lifetime. As with many Caribbean destinations, hotels in Antigua offer a luxury experience - from beach front to infinity pools, tropical gardens to all -inclusive restaurants and spas, they have it all.
The area we’ve show in our design is Nelson’s Dockyard in English Harbour. Built in the 1740s but more recently restored to its original splendour, the area is surrounded by historic forts across the landscape that’s accessible by foot and allows visitors to enjoy the scenery. As well as plenty of modern amenities, it now plays host to some of the island’s sailing and yachting events such as Antigua Sailing Week.
