As one of the most popular Greek islands, you may think you know what Corfu is all about. But do you?

These days its thronging with tourists throughout the summer months, however this is an island that still very much embraces both its artistic and intellectual roots since its humble beginnings dating back to the eighth century. Corfu really does have it all  lovely resorts, eye-poppingingly blue waters hiding deep sea treasures, and even regal connections.

The beautiful village we are showing in our design is Paleokastritsa, which we think is a pretty special place. Whereas most resorts have one beach, this one has six dotted across the rocky bays. Each of them ranges from busy to more secluded and are in easy reach of bars and tavernas to refresh yourself with some delicious Greek food. Paleokastritsa is also rumoured to be home to ancient Greek myth of the Palace of King Alkinoos (where Odyssueus stayed) which has yet to be discovered.

The island of Corfu has regularly played host to Royalty over the years, but did you know that it is the birthplace of several Greek royals including a certain Philippos Prince of Greece and Denmark in 1921? You may know him better today by the title of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

For those itching to have a bit of island adventure, there is lots to do whatever your tastes. Enjoy the Venetian architecture and culture of Corfu Town (the islands capital and a registered UNESCO site), hit the water for some diving to view the amazing marine life and shipwrecks, or wait until after dark and partake in some of the varied nightlife found I every resort and village.

History, mystery, sun and fun, Corfu is right up our street!
