Home to a more than 7 million people, Hong Kong is a unique blend of traditional Chinese values mixed with Western ideals. Formally a colony of the British Empire from the mid-19th century, it is now a special administrative region of Peoples Republic of China. The Hong Kong flag is very striking and depicts a white 5 petal Hong Kong orchid tree (which is called Bauhinia x blakeana) in the middle of a red Chinese field which was introduced in 1996.
There are plenty of things to see and do in Hong Kong, as well as plenty of ways to explore. Sham Shui Po is one of the oldest districts in Hong Kong and originally known for its textiles industry, but is now one of the coolest neighbourhoods to visit thanks to a new wave of quirky, hipster culture populating the area. For a more scenic experience there is a 60kn cycle track that allows tourists to explore different parts of the New Territories, taking in sea views and lush greenery along the way.
We have chosen the beautiful Victoria Harbour area for our Hong Kong design. The area is a hugely acts as a natural channel between Hong Kong mainland and Hong Kong Island and is popular with tourists. As you can see, it offers great views of the Island skyline across the water and is equipped with a luxury mall, museums and waterfront eateries. Did you also know that Victoria Harbour has its very own walk of fame? The Avenue of Stars runs along the waterfront and pays tribute to celebrities of the Hong Kong film industry.
