Poros Greece poster print

£9.00

Nestled in heart of the Saronic Gulf, the island of Poros is as popular with native Greeks as it is tourists, due to the fact that it’s a mere one hour ferry ride away from Athens. Not to be confused with the town of the same name in Kefalonia, Poros is actually made up of two smaller islands -Spheria and Kalavria. In Greek, the word “Poros” is a kind of limestone that’s quarried on the mainland of Greece that was used as a common building stone in Athens around 480bc.

Although small Poros has several lovely beaches, many of these are framed by typical lush pine greenery of the island. From sandy to secluded, pebbled to water sports and peppered with beach bars, there’s a spot to suit every kind of traveller who’d like to spend a day by the crystal clear Aegean Sea.

Because Poros is so close to the mainland it’s a great place to partake in a bit of traditional Greek ‘island hopping’ – as well as easy access to Athens to jump on a connecting flight or ferry, the other Saronic Gulf islands of Hydra, Agistri and Aegina are close by and well worth a visit.

The view in our poster design is overlooking the port area of Poros Town, the island’s capital. With its beautiful whitewashed building, narrow lanes and colour pops of beautiful flowers, it’s a lovely place to enjoy some food, wonderful scenery and indulge in a spot of people watching.
